Amy Fromm

Amy is Northern Virginia native. Her singing career started at the tender of age 3(ish) when she reportedly discovered the joys of belting out Mary Had A Little Lamb in off key tones to her delight and everyone else's chagrin. Amy would sing anything and everything she could learn including many old Scottish folk songs (and a couple of inappropriate WWII ditties) taught to her by her favorite grammy and papa (respectively). Fortunately she joined the 5th grade chorus where she found her ear, some appropriate material for her age group, and a home. She sang her way through Robinson Secondary School in both women's and mixed groups and performed in various musicals including the role of Carrie from "Carousel". While studying for her English degree at Mary Washington College she was lucky enough to find a motley group of music-minded people and joined the Symfonics, a student-run a capella group, which just happened to include a certain Nathan Pipke. Amy is so thrilled and fortunate to find herself singing again with Nate and a wonderful new group of like-minded people in Tonic & Gin! This is her first time back with a group since her college days and is excited to be sharing her love of a capella music with real people instead of just her car and shampoo and conditioner.

Fun Facts About Amy

Favorite guilty pleasure: Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the TV show) - I can't explain it and most people don't understand but it is a veritable addiction most recently manifesting itself in the gift of a bumper sticker that says "What Would Buffy Do?"

Favorite Thing to do in DC: Anything I haven't done before - I've lived here all my life and it blows me away how much I still have to discover!

Favorite Food: Guacomole, and if this doesn't qualify as a food then avocado - it is the greatest thing ever. This is followed closely by all other foods - eating is one of life's great pleasures.

Favorite Travel Destination: the Scottish Highlands

Favorite Music/Bands: there is no music I do not enjoy on some level but if I have to name a few... Kenny Rogers (another unexplainable childhood thing), the soundtrack to "Once On This Island" (or any other musical for that matter), the Beach Boys, Herman's Hermits, most singer/songwriters/rock bands (too many to name), and the Muppets Greatest Hits 1 & 2 - long live Muhnahmuhnah!
